APLF develops educational, networking and award programmes to promote design, innovation and sustainability within the leather and fashion industries.

In a shift in the market that’s here to stay, consumers want to buy brands that are doing social or environmental good. AmCham Apparel & Footwear Committee and APLF invite you to share your thoughts, problems and wish list of KPIs related to the selection of new suppliers and how you bring existing suppliers up to speed with your sustainability requirements.

Best of APLF Awards is an initiative to cultivate and nurture talent and creativity in leather and fashion-related industries. The project recognises design excellence, originality, innovation and outstanding workmanship of products exhibited at both APLF-organised events, MM&T and Fashion Access. Launched in 2004, Best of APLF Awards has proved immensely popular with APLF participants, one reason being that the recognition helps boost a company or brand’s profile on a global scale.

Since the launch in 2015, the Global Footwear Retail Conference has been bringing together over 100 key footwear retailers to this annual meeting in Hong Kong to discuss on ground-breaking ideas, latest innovations, technologies and critical issues that are shaping the retail scene.

In each edition, the programme is designed to stimulate interactive and constructive discussions between industry experts and audience with business networking opportunities to maximise their visit.

The 2018 edition of GFRC returns to Fashion Access on 15 March 2018.

Sustainability in the Leather Supply Chain Conference

Building on the success of previous years, the theme of this year’s conference will be focused on innovation for building a sustainable value chain for the leather industry. Key themes will include chemical management, traceability and supply chain management.

We promise an exciting line-up of international industry leading specialists, including major brands and/or retailers, tanners, leather supply chain suppliers (machinery/chemicals) and organisations presenting the most up-to-date developments across a range of topical subjects.

It is a green initiative program launched by APLF and supported by CTC, designed to help exhibitors at APLF Materials+ and Fashion Access become compliant with the environmental measurement standards and requirements set by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition or SAC, the apparel, footwear and home textile industries’ foremost alliance for sustainable production throughout the supply chain. 

Design-A-Bag Competition, organised by Fashion Access trade fair, is open to designers and design students all over the world. It uniquely takes place via an online platform, allowing participants to submit their design illustrations from anywhere, at any time. 

The event brings together a global design community, cultivates innovation, and keeps Fashion Access plugged in with talents from various cultures and backgrounds. 

Winners will be awarded cash prizes and a trip to the Award Ceremony at Fashion Access March in Hong Kong, which serves as an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to demonstrate their ingenuity in front of fashion professionals.

The LeatherNaturally! initiative is aimed to highlight the natural beauty of leather and more importantly educate the buying public, designers and youth about leather and the leather industry. The whole industry from meat packers to tanners, manufacturers and retail brands are joining forces and throwing its weight into LeatherNaturally!, an initiative very much inspired by industry wide operations. The positive aspects of leather such as it being sustainable material with natural elegance have to be promoted while defending it against unchallenged reports designed to prejudice its image. 

With its debut in 2006, Prime Source Forum (PSF) has been held annually in Hong Kong, bringing together some 400 senior executives from 20+ countries to discuss challenges and opportunities that matter each stakeholder of the fashion supply chain.

This international event offers ample opportunities for delegates to network, exchange ideas, and vision the future landscape for two days.
